{"id":659,"date":"2004-04-29T11:02:06","date_gmt":"2004-04-29T18:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/wp\/2004\/04\/what_a_week\/"},"modified":"2004-04-29T11:02:06","modified_gmt":"2004-04-29T18:02:06","slug":"what_a_week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/2004\/04\/what_a_week.html","title":{"rendered":"WHAT A WEEK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>The Supreme Court <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/features\/feature.php?wfId=1855049\"><STRONG><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>heard arguments<\/FONT><\/EM><\/STRONG><\/A><FONT color=#000000><br \/>\nyesterday about whether U.S. citizens may be imprisoned without trial or legal representation if<br \/>\nthey&#8217;re&nbsp;declared by the&nbsp;little fucker&nbsp;to be &#8220;enemy combatants&#8221; in the war on<br \/>\nterror. <\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P>The righter-than-rightwing editorial page of The Wall Street Journal warned the court not to<br \/>\nlet its &#8220;sense of its own importance&#8221; lead it to believe &#8220;it can do a better job of running the war on<br \/>\nterror than an elected chief executive.&#8221; <I>Elected?<\/I> How about <I>appointed<\/I>? I<br \/>\ndidn&#8217;t&nbsp;hear the Journal complaining about the court&#8217;s self-importance back then,<br \/>\nwhen&nbsp;the&nbsp;same court&nbsp;did the appointing.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The 9\/11 commission hears today&nbsp;what he and his crony in chief have to say to justify<br \/>\nhow they screwed up the war on terror from the moment they took office.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales likes the fact that there will be <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2004\/ALLPOLITICS\/04\/29\/bush.911.commission\/index.html\"><B><\nEM><FONT color=#003399>no verbatim account<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A> of the 9\/11<br \/>\ncommission&#8217;s meeting in the Oval Office with the little fucker and his crony in chief. After all, it&#8217;s<br \/>\nthe little fucker who insisted on that condition in the first place, and we all know how desperate<br \/>\nhe is to get to the bottom of things.
