Liebling buff. He reminds us once again with<br \/>\n<A href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/fact\/content\/?040329fa_fact1\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Reporting It All,&#8221;<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A> a sweet piece in the current issue<br \/>\nof The New Yorker honoring&nbsp;the centennial of Liebling&#8217;s birth. The magazine has also put<br \/>\nonline from its archive a terrific piece by Liebling&nbsp;himself, <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/archive\/content\/?040329fr_archive01\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Ahab and Nemesis,&#8221;<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A> about the sweet science.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>What surprised us, though, was that Remnick revealed his person to be such<br \/>\nan&nbsp;old-fashioned writer in another piece for the current issue, <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/talk\/content\/?040329ta_talk_remnick\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;After Madrid,&#8221;<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A> his Talk of the Town commentary<br \/>\nabout the Madrid train bombings. &#8220;In recent years,&#8221; he writes, &#8220;Osama bin Laden has concealed<br \/>\nhis person from spies and Predator drones but has hidden his intentions and his sense of historical<br \/>\nmission in plain sight.&#8221; Impeccable idea.&nbsp;Peccable style. <I>Concealed his person<\/I>? So<br \/>\n19th century. What&#8217;s wrong with <I>concealed himself?<\/I> Yes, we&#8217;re being picky, picky. <\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We always knew David Remnick was an A.J.
