I noticed that funding for maintenance of the space telescope was eliminated after the<br \/>\npresident&#8217;s bullshit Mars project announcement, another coincidental bait-and-switch. There is a<br \/>\nwormhole and his name is Bush.&#8221;<\/P><br \/>\n<P>This comes as no surprise to many in the scientific community. <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/0,2933,111802,00.html\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>As reported even by Bush-friendly Fox News<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A>:<br \/>\n&#8220;President Bush&#8217;s administration distorts scientific findings and seeks to manipulate experts&#8217; advice<br \/>\nto avoid information that runs counter to its political beliefs, a private organization of scientists<br \/>\nasserted on Wednesday. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>&#8220;The <A href=\"http:\/\/www.ucsaction.org\/action\/\"><B><EM><FONT color=#003399>Union<br \/>\nof Concerned Scientists<\/FONT><\/EM> <\/B><\/A>contended in a report that &#8216;the scope and<br \/>\nscale of the manipulation, suppression and misrepresentation of science by the Bush<br \/>\nadministration is unprecedented.'&#8221; <\/P><br \/>\n<P><A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/nationworld\/chi-0402190303feb19,1,6054536.story?\ncoll=chi-newsnationworld-hed\"><B><EM><FONT color=#003399>As reported in the Chicago<br \/>\nTribune<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A>, &#8220;top scientists and environmentalists&#8221; backed the report,<br \/>\nwhich said &#8220;the administration had suppressed research on global warming, air quality, sexual<br \/>\nhealth, cancer and other issues.&#8221;<\/P><br \/>\n<P>And in case you didn&#8217;t read that, <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/02\/19\/politics\/19RESE.html\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>as reported in The New York Times<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A>, the group<br \/>\ncomprises &#8220;more than 60 influential scientists, including 20 Nobel laureates&#8221; who maintain that<br \/>\nBush &#038; Company&#8217;s systematic distortion of scientific fact served &#8220;policy goals on the<br \/>\nenvironment, health, biomedical research and nuclear weaponry at home and abroad.&#8221;<\/P><br \/>\n<P>It&#8217;s just <A\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.thefreedictionary.com\/standard%20operating%20procedure\"><B><EM><FO\nNT color=#003399>Standard Operating Procedure<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A> for the White<br \/>\nHouse&nbsp;<A href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreedictionary.com\/wormhole\"><B><EM><FONT\ncolor=#003399>wormhole<\/FONT><\/EM><\/B><\/A>: According to the report, &#8220;the<br \/>\nadministration also allowed industries with conflicts of interest to influence technical advisory<br \/>\ncommittees, disbanded for political reasons one panel on arms control and subjected other<br \/>\nprospective members of scientific panels to political litmus tests.&#8221;<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to yesterday&#8217;s item, a reader writes: &#8220;I&#8217;m a Hubble man, too.
