She discusses the influence of the Classics on her work as a poet, essayist, and translator. A teacher of ancient Greek as well, Carson has published 20 books, blending genres and media. Her first book, <em>Eros the Bittersweet,<\/em> was named one of the 100 best nonfiction books of all time by the Modern Library.
