But he also wrote books of his own, both in German and English. On Jan. 23, the anniversary of his death, Phantom Outlaw Editions will make available a tale he wrote toward the end of his life, “Le Regard d’Autrui.” Why he gave a French title to a story written in English is not clear. Perhaps because of the setting. What is crystal clear, however, is that it shows him to have been a master storyteller as good as any of the celebrated writers who were beneficiaries of his masterly translations.

“Doucement, doucement, plus fort, plus vif, plus profond.”
Click to purchase the trade edition in the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Italy, Japan, France, and Spain.

My tireless staff of thousands found a copy of the scarce Cold Turkey Press limited edition available for purchase at Walgenbach Art & Books, a Dutch gallery-cum-bookstore in Rotterdam.

Click to purchase the limited first edition.

UPDATE: Jan. 23 — “Le Regard d’Autrui” may now be purchased in the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Italy, Japan, France, and Spain.
