When Gary Lee-Nova read a recent blogpost<\/a> about a new posthumous collection of Mary Beach’s writings, Electric Bananas<\/a><\/em>, it drew him to Marshall McLuhan’s notated copy of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake<\/em>. Gary was kind enough to send along a couple of sample pages of those notations, as well as McLuhan’s comment about “stupidity” and “indifference.” Thanks, Gary. Very much appreciated.<\/p>\n

This panel was created by Robert Reid, a distinguished Canadian designer, typographer, and artist based in Vancouver, B.C. It is being presented this month at the Elizabeth Dafoe Library, University of Manitoba, in an exhibition\/symposium entitled MARSHALL McLUHAN: WINNIPEG\/WORLD: GLOBAL VILLAGE COUNTER-ENVIRONMENT, in collaboration with CAUSA (Collective for Advanced and Unified Studies in the Visual Arts).<\/p><\/div>\n
