My staff of thousands informs me that the Columbia University Rare Book & Manuscript Library<\/a> has acquired the Granary Books<\/a> archive. So publisher and library will mark the occasion with a bit of hoopla and an exhibition that opens Sept. 8, the day after Labor Day. It’s called . . .<\/p>\n

The Book Undone: Celebrating Thirty Years of Granary Books<\/strong><\/font><\/center><\/p>\n

The party on Sept. 16 (ok, they refer to it as “the reception”) will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers — poets, writers, artists, book designers, and scholars — all of whom have been published by Granary Books: Charles Bernstein<\/a>, Johanna Drucker<\/a>, Vincent Katz<\/a>, Daniel Kelm<\/a>, Emily McVarish<\/a>, Jerome Rothenberg<\/a>, and Buzz Spector<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here’s a notice worth quoting:<\/p>\n

“It’s difficult to fully describe the range and impact of Steve Clay’s Granary Books. Beginning in 1985 he has concocted a mix of poets, artists, printers, and craftspeople whose work defines an era and fundamentally shapes our understanding of the artists’ book.”<\/p>\n

Which makes me wonder how a book of mine<\/a> snuck in there. It’s just a sliver in the stack, but maybe that’s what Dimunation meant by “concocted.”<\/p>\n

The Book Undone: Thirty Years of Granary Books<\/strong> runs from Tuesday, September 8, 2015, through Friday, January 29, 2016<\/p>\n
