Instead it turned out to be a speech someone wrote for her about women&#8217;s rights, because today marks the 60th anniversary of the U.N.&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/Overview\/rights.html\">Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/a>.<br \/>\nShe especially deplored the treatment of women by the Taliban in Afghanistan and by the junta in Burma. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/news\/releases\/2008\/12\/20081210-6.html\">Such a humanitarian!<\/a> I don&#8217;t know what I was thinking. But then it occurred to me the declaration she was honoring hadn&#8217;t made much difference to the Taliban or to the junta or, for that matter, to her husband.<br \/>\nSomehow the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/08\/jim_holts_criti.html\">Bullshitter-in-Chief<\/a>&#8216;s track record <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2005\/jan\/14\/usa.richardnortontaylor\">on human rights<\/a>, let alone <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/blogs\/capitalgames\/2245\">on the U.N.<\/a>, went unmentioned.
