(Was he was thinking of <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/asia-pacific\/country_profiles\/1296639.stm#leaders\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Tajikistan<\/strong><\/font><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/asia-pacific\/country_profiles\/1238242.stm#leaders\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Uzbekistan<\/strong><\/font><\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/asia-pacific\/country_profiles\/1298071.stm#leaders\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Kazakhstan<\/strong><\/font><\/a>?)<br \/>\nNot to single him out &#8212; although he also deserves it for <a href=\"http:\/\/select.nytimes.com\/2006\/10\/29\/opinion\/29brooks.html?hp=&#038;pagewanted=print\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>his previous inanity<\/strong><\/font><\/a> (bemoaning the expected defeat of Rick Santorum) &#8212; Peggy Noonan ought to be cited as well. She, too, sees the defeat of that Banana Republican as &#8220;a national loss.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nIn her Wall Street Journal column on Saturday, headlined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opinionjournal.com\/columnists\/pnoonan\/\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#0033399>&#8220;We Need His Kind,&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> she writes that she asked a former senator (&#8220;a crusty old moderate Republican&#8221;) if he liked Santorum. &#8220;No,&#8221; he said, &#8220;I love him.&#8221; Why? Because, when the old crust tried to mentor him,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Mr. Santorum was grateful and appreciative, &#8220;but he kept speaking his mind!&#8221; The former senator: &#8220;The political scientists all say to be honest and stand for principle, that&#8217;s what people want. And he was exactly that, and he&#8217;s about to get his head handed to him.&#8221; &#8230; It was sad, he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So Noonan wants us to believe Santorum will get his head handed to him not for being a rubber stamp &#8212; a 98% voting record with the bullshitter, according to his opponent &#8212; but for being honest?
