It carries a cash award of $350,000. As Borat might say: &#8220;Verr nize!&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.selvesandothers.org\/view18.html\" class=inline target=new\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt title=\"ROBERT FISK\" src=\"http:\/\/vitw.org\/images\/robertfiskthumb.jpg\" width=150 align=left border=0 \/><\/a>A full-page ad announcing the award in today&#8217;s New York Times cites an excerpt from Fisk&#8217;s massive 2005 book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1400041511\/ref=pd_rvi_gw_1\/102-0100347-5967312\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>&#8220;The Great War for Civilisation,&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> which, ironically, the NYT Book Review <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/12\/times_book_fave_1.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>excluded <\/strong><\/font><\/a> from its list of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/12\/04\/books\/review\/notable-books2005.html?ex=1162962000&#038;en=b3ab8475644636ba&#038;ei=5070\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>100 Notable Books of the Year<\/strong><\/font><\/a>.<br \/>\nIf you haven&#8217;t had a chance to read Fisk, have a look at the column he wrote last June in The (London) Independent about Haditha. It ran under the headline &#8220;On the shocking truth about the American occupation of Iraq.&#8221; The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reprinted it with this headline: <a href=\"http:\/\/seattlepi.nwsource.com\/opinion\/272620_haditha04.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>&#8220;The way Americans like their war.&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> Believe me, you will be shocked. Even now, knowing what you think you know, you will be shamed:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yes, the Nazis were much worse. And the Japanese. And the Croatian Ustashi. But this is us. This is our army. These young soldiers are our representatives in Iraq.
