There&#8217;s been no confirmation, official or unofficial.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>PPS:<\/strong> The Wall Street Journal has a story today (May 16) that Rove has not been indicted, according to his attorney, and that Leopold&#8217;s reporting is <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/public\/article\/SB114774060320053665-N7xushJ1UIqClPt0DFX5HjgkQQQ_20060615.html?mod=tff_article\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>flat wrong<\/strong><\/font><\/a>:<br \/>\n<center><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/public\/article\/SB114774060320053665-N7xushJ1UIqClPt0DFX5HjgkQQQ_20060615.html?mod=tff_article\" class=inline target=new\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"WSJ sidebar\" src=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/public\/resources\/images\/NA-AI844_Rove_20060515210414.gif\" width=440 border=0 \/><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nHere&#8217;s Truthout.com&#8217;s rundown of Leopold&#8217;s reports on Fitzgerald, Rove, Libby et al, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthout.org\/fitzgeraldcalling.shtml\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>&#8220;Mr. Fitzgerald Calling.&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> (It includes stories by several other reporters.)<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve written about Leopold before, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/02\/on_the_record.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>ON THE RECORD<\/strong><\/font><\/a> (my gut reaction to his memoir, &#8220;Off The Record,&#8221; which I didn&#8217;t like), and in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/02\/an_exchange_wit.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>AN EXCHANGE WITH JASON LEOPOLD<\/strong><\/font><\/a> (his response to my reaction).<br \/>\nLeopold&#8217;s contracted publisher, Rowman &#038; Littlefield, ultimately did not bring out &#8220;On the Record,&#8221; as originally announced. He has since published the memoir himself  under a different title, <a href=\"http:\/\/processmediainc.com\/press\/mini_sites\/news_junkie\/index.php\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>&#8220;News Junkie.&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> I haven&#8217;t read the published version, but I presume he&#8217;s made minor revisions to deal with the legal issue that may have led to the publisher&#8217;s withdrawal. (One of the people Leopold wrote about threatened a defamation suit.)<br \/>\nWhat must be said in Leopold&#8217;s favor is that major investigative journalists and authors &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/processmediainc.com\/press\/mini_sites\/news_junkie\/praise.php\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>especially Greg Palast<\/strong><\/font><\/a> &#8212; have praised his bare-knuckles style both as reporter and writer.  And I wouldn&#8217;t bet against him on the Rove indictment, my objections to his memoir notwithstanding.<br \/>\n<strong>PPPS:<\/strong> And now, May 22, comes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2006\/05\/21\/AR2006052101374.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>the Howard Kurtz iteration<\/strong><\/font><\/a> in The Washington Post.<br \/>\n<strong>PPPPS:<\/strong> This is what happens when I take time off. <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.truthout.org\/blog\/story\/2006\/5\/19\/162339\/178\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Uh-oh.<\/strong><\/font><\/a> Which means having to play catch-up (via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ericumansky.com\/2006\/05\/you_want_the_tr.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Eric Umansky<\/strong><\/font><\/a>).
