Oddly, the WashPost buried this graf very low in the story:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Investigators said they found 625 prisoners at the center but declined to give details about them. Most of the detainees found at the secret prison last month were Sunni Arabs who had been picked up by forces of the Shiite Muslim-dominated Interior Ministry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The New York Times at least had that info where it belonged &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/12\/12\/international\/middleeast\/12cnd-iraq.html?ei=5094&#038;en=8f7b22c83a6129d6&#038;hp=&#038;ex=1134450000&#038;adxnnl=1&#038;partner=homepage&#038;adxnnlx=1134407073-6J3f28gZcJOgHimI8LICcQ\" class=inline target=new\"><STRONG><font color=#003399>in the lede<\/strong><\/font><\/a> &#8212; notwithstanding a headline that reads like the CDC found a case of bird flu.<br \/>\nAnd how about  today&#8217;s other piece of headline-making news? As CNN.com so aptly put it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2005\/POLITICS\/12\/12\/bush.iraq\/index.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>&#8220;Bush: Iraqi democracy making progress; estimates 30,000 Iraqis killed.&#8221;<\/strong><\/font><\/a> That&#8217;s progress? When there are 300,000 killed, Iraq oughta be 10 times freer. Somebody stop him. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/08\/jim_holts_criti.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Bullshitter-in-Chief<\/strong><\/font><\/a> has morphed into the colonel in Vietnam who secured his place in military history by telling a reporter: &#8220;We had to destroy the village to save the village.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The report in today&#8217;s Washington Post, Sunni genocide.
