Fools that we are, we offered an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/2005\/09\/we_dont_read_to.html\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>olive branch<\/strong><\/font><\/a> to Tom Friedman, and today he reverted to form in another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/09\/09\/opinion\/09friedman.html?hp\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>typical faux memo<\/strong><\/font><\/a> to &#8220;Iraq&#8217;s Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni leaders&#8221; from &#8220;An American friend.&#8221; Advising them on the impact Katrina is likely to have on Iraq, due to the weakened political capital of our Bullshitter-in-Chief, he tells them who&#8217;s responsible for weakening him: It&#8217;s the press.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nola.com\/hurricane\/photos\" class=inline target=new\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Dead man floating.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/archives\/Dead%20man%20floating.jpg\" width=240 align=right border=0 \/><\/a> Yup, in Uncle Tommy Boy&#8217;s view, &#8220;the Katrina TV drama is not going away&#8221; because, &#8220;Hell hath no fury like journalists with a compelling TV story where they get to be the heroes and the government the fools.&#8221; He says this, mind you, when reporters have had their cameras smashed and guns pointed at their heads by police and the National guard to keep them from photographing Katrina&#8217;s aftermath, just as was done in Iraq.<br \/>\nThis morning&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\" class=inline target=new\"><strong><font color=#003399>Democracy Now<\/strong><\/font><\/a> tells about that.
