If<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re interested, <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/output\/books\/sho-sunday-keaton08.html\"\ntarget='new\"'><B><FONT color=#003399>go here<\/FONT><\/B><\/A> or <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/elsewhere\/elsewhere.shtml\" target='new\"'><B><FONT\ncolor=#003399>here<\/FONT><\/B><\/A>. Some of what I wrote went thisaway:<br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><IMG src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/herman\/images\/KEATONcover.jpg\"\nwidth=110 align=right border=0><\/A>Like Welles, though in an earlier time and on a different<br \/>\nscale, Keaton was a master filmmaker whose creativity was leached out of him by small-minded<br \/>\nproducers who at first recognized his genius, then proceeded to undermine him by jealously<br \/>\nforcing him to conform to a studio system dominated by businessmen uninterested in his art. It&#8217;s a<br \/>\nfamiliar story, common to any number of Hollywood&#8217;s great filmmakers from Erich von Stroheim<br \/>\nto Francis Ford Coppola.
