He thinks of them as improvised Big<br \/>\nApple portraits, which he&#8217;s edited to fit selected musical scores. All told, they add up to something<br \/>\nlike an essay. The first was posted Friday. Here&#8217;s the second: <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.osborne-conant.org\/newyork\/chrysler.ram\" target='new\"'><B><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Chrysler Building.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/B><\/A><br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Put on your headphones, click the photo or the title, and enjoy. Give it time to load. The<br \/>\nmusic, by Maurice Ravel, is &#8220;Melodies hebraiques: no 2, L&#8217;enigme eternelle,&#8221; performed by<br \/>\nCatherine Robbin (mezzo soprano) and Andr\u00e9 Laplante (piano), with Nora Shulman (flute);<br \/>\nCamille Watts (flute); Joaquin Valdepe\u00f1as (clarinet); David Bourque (clarinet); Mark Skzainetsky<br \/>\n(violin); Mi Hyon Kim (violin); Steven Dann (viola); Thomas Wiebe (cello). It&#8217;s<br \/>\nrecorded&nbsp;by the CBC Records\/Musica Viva label on the CD <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/B00004YWQW\/qid=1114270483\/sr=1-1\/r\nef=sr_1_1\/103-3783026-9245437?v=glance&#038;s=classical\" target='new\"'><B><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Ravel: M\u00e9lodies&#8221;<\/FONT><\/B><\/A> (Cat. #: MVCD1128).<\/P><br \/>\n<P>If you prefer the videos sequentially more or less as Osborne intended &#8212; the staff does &#8212;<br \/>\ninstead of backwards (per the usual top-down chronological order of posting), just click here<br \/>\nfrom top to bottom:<\/P>Part 1: <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.osborne-conant.org\/newyork\/times-square.ram\" target='new\"'><B><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Times Square at Night.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/B><\/A><BR>Part 2: <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.osborne-conant.org\/newyork\/chrysler.ram\" target='new\"'><B><FONT\ncolor=#003399>&#8220;Chrysler Building.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/B><\/A><br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Typically, Osborne takes a modest view of his efforts. &#8220;The videos themselves won&#8217;t sustain<br \/>\nmuch interest (especially given all of the video media that swamps our lives),&#8221; he messages, &#8220;but<br \/>\nthey might be a useful small addition or footnote to your usual blogging when you get back to it.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe staff begs to disagree. It believes his moody improvisations are more than just footnotes.
