{"id":468,"date":"2007-11-20T23:24:32","date_gmt":"2007-11-21T07:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/foot\/wp\/2007\/11\/blame_canada\/"},"modified":"2007-11-20T23:24:32","modified_gmt":"2007-11-21T07:24:32","slug":"blame_canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/foot\/2007\/11\/blame_canada.html","title":{"rendered":"Blame Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So remember how, starting back in May and continuing into June, then again in September (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/foot\/archives.html\">the archives<\/a>), we were lamenting that dance is not as popular as opera&#8211;and trying to figure out why and what to do about it?<br \/>\nIn late September, reader Griffin <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/foot\/2007\/09\/the_pavarotti_of_dance_more_re.html\">suggested<\/a> that dance do like the Met Opera and provide the movie theaters with high-definition simulcasts of sumptuous live shows.<br \/>\nAnd now they&#8217;re doing it, they&#8217;re doing it!!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/arts\/theatre\/story\/2007\/11\/20\/nutcracker-hd.html?ref=rss\">The Canadians<\/a>, of course.<br \/>\n<em>A simulcast of the National Ballet of Canada&#8217;s &#8220;Nutcracker&#8221; will run in 69 theaters from Vancouver to Montreal on December 22. Tickets: $10 for kids, $20 for adults.
