{"id":80,"name":"Josh Rice","url":"","description":"Josh Rice is proud to be the co-founder and Producing Artistic Director of Shake on the Lake. Josh is a New York City-based theatre artist specializing in physical performance, improvisation, and puppetry. Original work includes: (Almost Definitely) Questionable Acts at the NYC Clown Theatre Festival, the New Orleans Fringe Festival, and the Physical Festival (Chicago, IL); The Vaudevillains at the first annual La MaMa Puppet Slam. Puppetry credits: Petrushka with the NY Philharmonic Orchestra (London tour); Shank's Mare at La MaMa, ETC; The Scarlet Ibis at HERE Arts Center; Jewel Casket at Dixon Place; The Good Mother, directed by Dan Hurlin; and Janie Geiser\u2019s Reptile Under the Flowers at St. Ann\u2019s Warehouse. He is excited to be collaborating with Dan Hurlin on his new Italian Futurist puppet piece based on the works of Depero premiering in 2017. Josh has collaborated on projects with David Neumann, Geoff Sobelle, Tom Lee, and Kristin Marting. He is Adjunct Theatre Faculty with Pace University and Sarah Lawrence College, and a Teaching Artist with the New Victory Theater and CultureHub NYC\/La Mama. Josh has been the recipient of numerous grants from the NYSCA (2012-2014); a 2015 Artist In Residency with Sagafest in Iceland; a 2015 Celebration Barn Theater Arts Incubator Residency in Maine to develop a new show, Mr. Lear; a 2015 Regional Economic Development Council Grant for SOTL; a 2015 Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) Grant from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs; and was awarded a 2014 Creative Community Fellowship with National Arts Strategies for his work as Founder and Director of the Mnemonic Theatre Project, his puppetry program with seniors living with Alzheimer\u2019s and Dementia. This summer, Josh will be traveling to Hachioji Japan to study and collaborate with fifth-generation puppet master, Koryu Nishikawa V as part of a 2015 TCG\/ Andrew W.
