Each day ArtsJournal features an array of links to stories from more than 200 publications worldwide. Prior to starting ArtsJournal&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nI was arts columnist and music critic for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. I was also arts writer for <em>The News Tribune <\/em>in Tacoma Washington, and music critic and arts reporter for Seattle Weekly. I have a Master&#8217;s degree in music from the Juilliard School in New York, and have performed in Asia, Europe and North America and lived and worked in Italy and in China, where I spent a year as artist-in-residence at the Central Conservatory in Beijing. <\/p>\n<p>\n<span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"McLennandiacritical.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.artsjournal.com\/diacritical\/McLennandiacritical.jpg?resize=128%2C165\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"165\" width=\"128\" \/><\/span><br \/>\nI have written on the arts for numerous publications, including as music critic in the early days of <em>Salon.com<\/em>, and for <em>Newsweek<\/em>, <em>The New York Times<\/em>,<em> The Los Angeles Times<\/em>, <em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, and the <em>London Evening Standard<\/em> and was rcently a contributor to the new edition of <em>Baker&#8217;s Biographical Dictionary of Popular Musicians<\/em>.<br \/>\nI have won several awards for arts criticism and reporting, including a National Arts Journalism Program Fellowship at Columbia University and a Deems Taylor\/ASCAP Award for music journalism. I was recently named one of 100 Outstanding Graduates of the Juilliard School for the school&#8217;s centennial.
