Fans of the dedication to low prices and high quality &#8212; as well as eccentric and small-batch wines &#8212; this place serves up will be as excited as your humble blogger about the latest news.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/TLc_4dYYFzI\/AAAAAAAAA_8\/JX0BTFs5VxI\/s1600\/Sunset_Beer_Logo-400x400.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/TLc_4dYYFzI\/AAAAAAAAA_8\/JX0BTFs5VxI\/s320\/Sunset_Beer_Logo-400x400.jpg\" width=\"320\"><\/a>John and Jen Nugent, who own the wine shop, will help launch and run Sunset Beer Company, which, with luck, will open on Sunset Blvd. next spring. (An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.echoparknow.com\/2010\/09\/10\/sunset-beer-opening-in-echo-park\/\">article<\/a> in Echo Park Now.) It&#8217;s based on the set up of the wine shop, which includes a tasting area.<\/p>\n<p>I should say that while this couple has turned me on to many fine bottles of wine, John is also responsible for introducing me to Belgium&#8217;s wonderful farmhouse ale Saison Dupont and hence bringing back &#8212; in part &#8212; to beer.<\/p>\n<p>Ths morning John sent out the following note about the new venture and his need for support:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">Slated to open in Spring of 2011, Sunset Beer Company will happily live on Sunset boulevard in Echo Park.\u00a0\u00a0The concept behind Sunset Beer Co. comes from many evenings of beer drinking (uh&#8230;tasting)\u00a0on\u00a0one of the most famous porches in Eagle Rock at the home of Jenna\u00a0and Drew VonAh.\u00a0 It&#8217;s here that we tried Eagle Rock Brewery beer before the brewery opened and listened to our beer fanatic\u00a0friends talk about the lengths they must go to to find\u00a0their coveted\u00a0beers.\u00a0 Why not make the hunt a little easier by putting everything in one place?<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Sunset Beer Co. is a partnership between Jennifer and John of CoWineCo and\u00a0Jenna and Drew\u00a0VonAh.\u00a0\u00a0The concept will be quite familiar to you &#8211; a retail shop with a tasting area.\u00a0 But the\u00a0retail shop will be twice the size of\u00a0CoWineCo featuring many hundreds of bottles of beer from around the globe (all properly chilled of course), and the tasting area will have taps instead of rows of wine glasses (but for you grape-centric die-hards, yes there will be wine available as well).\u00a0 And I must mention, our nifty logo comes courtesy Evan Spiridellis of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jibjab.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\">JibJab.com<\/a>, an old friend who is also a lover of beer.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Do you like the idea?\u00a0 Are you salivating and annoyed that this place won&#8217;t open until Spring 2011?\u00a0<strong>Well, you can help!<\/strong>\u00a0 If you would like to express your support for this business either as a potential customer or as a current customer of CoWineCo who just wants the city to know that we run a responsible business, please write a letter or email.\u00a0 Our hearing is very soon, so letters would have to be postmarked by this coming Monday, October 18th.\u00a0 Any and all support will help us get our license in a timely manner and would be MUCH appreciated by Jenna, Drew, Jennifer, John,\u00a0Evie, Walter, their cats, their extended families and that family of skunks living in their garage.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Please send emails\/letters to our license expediter and they will be presented to the Zoning Adminstrator during our hearing:<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">Andy Inthavong<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webmail.wesleyan.edu\/src\/compose.php?send_to=andy4artrodriguez@yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\">andy4artrodriguez@yahoo.com<\/a><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><u>or<\/u><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>Art Rodriguez &#038; Associates<\/strong><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>Attn:\u00a0 Andy Inthavong \/ RE: Sunset Beer Company<\/strong><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>709 E.
