Deadline.com has the story of the deal with Fox Searchlight <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2010\/11\/wilson-lands-at-fox-searchlight-with-alexander-payne\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/TOa8kxVLDUI\/AAAAAAAABA0\/1QssrrrvNQc\/s1600\/wilson.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"238\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/TOa8kxVLDUI\/AAAAAAAABA0\/1QssrrrvNQc\/s320\/wilson.jpg\" width=\"320\"><\/a>A few months ago I met the Bay Area-based Clowes, whose <i>Ghost World<\/i> and <i>Art School Confidential <\/i>have been adapted, to discuss Wilson. The character is an enraged loner who sometimes shows flashes of heart and soul. Still, he may be the most unlikable Clowes protagonist yet.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t intend to go in and try to push the envelope on how unpleasant I could make him,&#8221; a slim, bald and darkly handsome Clowes told me over coffee at a Los Feliz cafe. &#8220;It came from within: I thought I&#8217;d make something both personally meaningful and something an audience would find interesting.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>&#8220;I think we have a similar worldview,&#8221; the author allowed. &#8220;And his sense of humor \u2014 finding humor in the razor&#8217;s edge between tragedy and comedy \u2014 there&#8217;s a lot of resonance between me and him.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2010\/may\/30\/entertainment\/la-ca-daniel-clowes-20100530\"><span>Here<\/span><\/a><span> is my full piece.
