Once considered a minimalist with few ties to the mainstream, Mark Swed wrote in his review, Reich is now one of the most important and influential composers alive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-Ly9G2y7XuhE\/TxhM7Kr9pKI\/AAAAAAAABPg\/8_JvNq1E1F4\/s1600\/Steve_Reich2.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-Ly9G2y7XuhE\/TxhM7Kr9pKI\/AAAAAAAABPg\/8_JvNq1E1F4\/s1600\/Steve_Reich2.jpg\"><\/a>I sat down with Reich a few years ago and found him very accessible and easy going. My <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2004\/oct\/23\/entertainment\/et-reich23\">article<\/a> starts by referring to the landmark &#8220;Music for 18 Musicians,&#8221; which he led on Tuesday night.
