{"id":739,"date":"2012-08-20T11:14:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-20T18:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/culturecrash\/2012\/08\/frenchman-at-neutras-house.html"},"modified":"2012-08-20T11:14:00","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T18:14:00","slug":"frenchman-at-neutras-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/culturecrash\/2012\/08\/frenchman-at-neutras-house.html","title":{"rendered":"Frenchman at Neutra&#8217;s House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RECENTLY I was invited to architect Richard Neutra&#8217;s old house in Silver Lake to check out the &#8220;intervention&#8221; by the French artist Xavier Veilhan, who created a number of sculptures to refer to the pioneering modernist&#8217;s life and work.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-lxPAXoldCfQ\/UDKMqfNq19I\/AAAAAAAABpY\/fXCxI3QJ_W0\/s1600\/Richard_Neutra.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-lxPAXoldCfQ\/UDKMqfNq19I\/AAAAAAAABpY\/fXCxI3QJ_W0\/s320\/Richard_Neutra.jpg\" width=\"240\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The press events and opening were quite groovy &#8212; movie stars, French people,\u00a0music by a member of the French band Air.<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles&#8217; Silver Lake, of course, is arguably the best neighborhood in the country for modernist domestic architecture. (That&#8217;s even if you don&#8217;t count Silverlake Wine and Rockaway Records.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/arts\/culture\/la-et-cm-neutra-art-20120819,0,7002114.story\">Here<\/a> is my story.\u00a0The work is up for a few more weeks.
