How did album jackets and photography of musicians &#8212; whether Francis Wolff&#8217;s shadowy shots of jazz musicians smoking in the shadows or Astrid Kirchherr&#8217;s images of the Beatles in post-industrial cityscapes &#8212; become important parts of music&#8217;s aura?
