But in at least two areas, he was a real disappointment. One was his gutless response &#8212; or lack of response &#8212; to the housing crisis, which involved mostly looking the other way and proposing toothless acronyms while banks crushed \u00a0homeowners struggling with the Great Recession.<\/p>\n<p>His second great failure was his cultural policy, which remained mostly a missed opportunity. Obama\u00a0and Michelle did make a highly publicized visit to Broadway to see a show, and the playlists he released were smart and wide-ranging.
