Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting the endorsements I get for my upcoming book Culture Crash: The Killing of the Creative Class, <\/em>due in January from Yale University Press.<\/p>\n

With coolness and equanimity, Scott Timberg tells what in less-skilled hands could have been an overwrought horror story: the end of culture as we have known it. He mourns the loss of independent book- and record-store clerks who evangelized for quality. He grieves for artists’ “day jobs,” which allowed creative workers a toehold in the middle-class. CULTURE CRASH is an urgent, necessary book for anyone who has ever been moved by a song, a film, a paragraph or a painting. Without the humanities, Timberg cautions, we may lose our humanity.<\/p>\n
