His Bach, Beethoven and Chopin are magnificent &#8212; a truly deep, probing player. (He&#8217;s also interested in the oft-overlooked, harmonically interesting Karol Szymanowski.)<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/S2HrDVohfQI\/AAAAAAAAAoo\/h4AUwtUZeYM\/s1600-h\/K.Miura045.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_yrL6yfubw8g\/S2HrDVohfQI\/AAAAAAAAAoo\/h4AUwtUZeYM\/s320\/K.Miura045.jpg\" width=\"288\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I spoke to the pianist the last time he was in town, and he talked about his choice of repertoire, his upbringing and his approach to the piano in general; he also told a funny story about the time he met Richter. Story <a href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/people\/scott-timberg\/posts\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday morning, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, he will perform in a concert that includes Beethoven&#8217;s First Piano Concerto; Phil schedule <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laphil.com\/tickets\/calendar.cfm\">here<\/a>. (He has already done one stint of chamber music this week that I wish I could have caught.)<\/p>\n<p>When I say young(ish) by the way, I mean he&#8217;s my age.
