This is not to say the <a title=\"Mac Winners\" href=\"http:\/\/www.macfound.org\/site\/c.lkLXJ8MQKrH\/b.7728991\/k.12E8\/Meet_the_2011_Fellows.htm\">recipients<\/a> are unworthy. But why nominate or evaluate artist candidates if the results are so insulting? We already know most of this stuff , but if you have never heard of Beatrice Wood, Ed Ruscha, or Craig Kauffman \u2013 and like to drive &#8212; this might be what you need. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Best part<\/span>: leaves \u00a0San Francisco \u00a0in the dust.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artopia\/2011\/09\/not-one-artist-gets-genius-award-this-year.html\/shame\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-867\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-867\" title=\"Shame\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artopia\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Shame.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"111\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve McQueen\u2019s<em> Shame<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artist McQueen\u2019s<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artnet.com\/magazineus\/news\/artnetnews\/steve-mcqueen-hollywood-turn.asp\"> new movie<\/a>\u00a0about a sex-addict goes Hollywood via Fox Searchlight., i.e., the quickest way to become a movie director is to go to art school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-880\" title=\"lyfford Still\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artopia\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/clyfford.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"120\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clyffordstillmuseum.org\/clyfford-still\">Clyfford Still Museum<\/a> Opens in Denver in November.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scorned by MoMA? Rejected by Clement Greenberg? Afraid of Pollock? Just fund a museum all about you. Your estate will have control. You are totally divorced from art history, social context, and other artists. But do I really want to travel to Denver just to see more evidence of Still\u2019s ego-trip? If there, I will certainly take a look.
