So many papers to read, students to place, projects to launch. In the meantime, here are some articles worth your attention elsewhere:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>More on the transaction value of art<\/i><br \/>\nThomas Crow, director of the Getty Research Institute, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/opinion\/commentary\/la-oe-crow19apr19,1,6880498.story\">talks about the implications<\/a> of his organization&#8217;s current exhibit on the business of art (discussed in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artfulmanager\/73898.php\">earlier entry on this weblog<\/a>).<\/p>\n<li><i>Mergers and Acquisitions<\/i><br \/>\nTwo smaller advocacy and service organizations <a href=\"http:\/\/www.backstage.com\/backstage\/news\/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000490815\">are merging into Americans for the Arts<\/a>, an organization that, itself, was a merger of the National Assembly of Local Arts Agencies (NALAA) and the American Council for the Arts (ACA) back in 1996. Through a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americansforthearts.org\/press\/prcontent.asp?id=65\">$120 million gift<\/a> announced in 2002, Americans for the Arts is positioning itself as the mother ship of arts advocacy in the United States.<\/p>\n<li><i>Our True Cultural Icon<\/i><br \/>\n<i>The Economist<\/i> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/printedition\/displayStory.cfm?Story_ID=2593089\">fascinating overview of Wal-Mart<\/a>, the $256-billion purveyor of consumer goods.\n<\/ul>\n<p>Happy surfing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the last two weeks classes here at the Bolz Center for Arts Administration, so my posts will likely be patchy and brief for a little while.
