More thoughts to come to this blog, after I successfully get her on the plane home. <\/p>\n<p>In the meanwhile, I thought I&#8217;d share some of her &#8216;new rules of conduct&#8217; she&#8217;s working to follow in her Brooklyn facility &#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.streb.org\/V2\/space\/index.html\">Streb Lab for Action Mechanics<\/a> (SLAM) &#8211; built on the frustrations she&#8217;s had with traditional cultural venues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No start times<\/li>\n<li>Question necessary duration<\/li>\n<li>Noise\/keep outside in\/inside out<\/li>\n<li>House lights on<\/li>\n<li>Eat drink and be merry<\/li>\n<li>Do whatever you want whenever you can<\/li>\n<li>Have all ages\/races\/classes together for common purpose<\/li>\n<li>Change use groups<\/li>\n<li>Switch around\/mingle buildings that vary in age and condition so they vary in the economic yield they must produce<\/li>\n<li>Multitask, no doors.<\/li>\n<li>Offer something someone needs, like bathrooms, water&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Drop idea of beginning middle and end<\/li>\n<li>Forget the idea that events have some intended meaning<\/li>\n<li>Lose idea of ordained behavior<\/li>\n<li>What is a new cultural paradigm<\/li>\n<li>Subjects are dead &#8211; it&#8217;s all verbs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Having great fun and deep conversations this week with Elizabeth Streb, who&#8217;s a guest speaker to my class and other public events in Madison.
