{"id":1033,"date":"2007-04-13T08:40:25","date_gmt":"2007-04-13T15:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artfulmanager\/wp\/2007\/04\/same_as_it_ever_was\/"},"modified":"2007-04-13T08:40:25","modified_gmt":"2007-04-13T15:40:25","slug":"same_as_it_ever_was","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/artfulmanager\/main\/same_as_it_ever_was.php","title":{"rendered":"Same as it ever was"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donorpowerblog.com\/donor_power_blog\/2007\/04\/what_is_fundrai.html\">post at the Donor Power Blog<\/a> posits that all the chatter about a next generation of marketing (&#8221;marketing 2.0&#8221;) and the related talk about &#8221;fundraising 2.0&#8221; are ignoring a fundamental point: no matter the medium, the basics remain the same.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><br \/>\n&#8230;all of that is less important than what&#8217;s always been true: If you want to motivate people to give, you have to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find the right people.\n<li>Tell a rip-roaring story.\n<li>Show them how they can make a difference.\n<li>Make it clear what happens if they don&#8217;t.\n<li>Make it easy to give.\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And while I might add a few addenda to that list (&#8221;Steward their gift with sincerity and care,&#8221; &#8220;Show them the difference they made,&#8221; and &#8220;Make it easy to give AGAIN&#8221;), I&#8217;ll admit they have a point.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to get lost in the tools and transitions of engaging and audience for earned or contributed income.
