In 1987, when the movie came out, such books were slender threads in the world of literature, and their childishness could be assumed as a plot device.<\/p>\n<p>The connective between pop-up and moving image is the flip book. Twenty-two years after momma got the boot, artists have managed to create a form of everything at once: drawings, pop-up books, flip books and videos. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.art21.org\/category\/artists\/william-kentridge\/\">William Kentridge<\/a> comes to mind first of all, but there are many others, including Stewart and, in Seattle, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.howardhouse.net\/artists\/index2.html?clifford\">Cat Clifford<\/a>, her installation below.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"catcliffordwall.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/catcliffordwall.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"margin: 0pt 20px 20px 0pt; float: left;\" width=\"450\" height=\"241\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hoedown from Rodeo from Eleanor Stewart on Vimeo.
