In 1988, he made a terrific series of road trip drawings <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/imgres?imgurl=http:\/\/www.paintingperceptions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/al-29-rockybeach-santabarbaraCAwr.jpg&amp;imgrefurl=http:\/\/paintingperceptions.com\/%3Fp%3D197&amp;usg=__Iv-FdFolJe-NgfBeZjbpGcfri6I=&amp;h=413&amp;w=650&amp;sz=16&amp;hl=en&amp;start=48&amp;sig2=0_6A0BY_TsgB0NoziRmc1w&amp;tbnid=52Lt2J5uprAzZM:&amp;tbnh=87&amp;tbnw=137&amp;prev=\/images%3Fq%3Dalfred%2Bleslie%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D40&amp;ei=bZeHSuxNl9q0A5nukJgH\">while driving<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Leslie began the drawings for what is now <i>Attacked by the Heart<\/i> in the early 1960s, some of which were published in <i>Artforum<\/i> in 1962, and all of which were destroyed by a fire in 1966. It opens with a<br \/>\nfine young man walking down a New York street carrying <strike>groceries<\/strike> a sack, like<br \/>\nJohn Travolta carrying a paint can as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c7dRbVZV6FI\">opener<\/a> of <i>Saturday Night<br \/>\nFever<\/i>.
