By asserting itself outside the definition, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joshtonsfeldt.com\/phouse.php\">Josh Tonsfeldt<\/a>&#8216;s web expands the category to include it.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"photoobjectspider.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/photoobjectspider.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span>Curated by <span class=\"style_2\">Bob Nickas<\/span> for Vancouver&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presentationhousegall.com\/\">Presentation House Gallery<\/a>, <i>phot(o)objects<\/i> made a seamless leap from nonprofit to commercial space, setting up shop at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawrimoreproject.com\/lp\/Exhibitions\/Entries\/2009\/6\/24_.html\">Lawrimore Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_3\">If the audience were frequently in motion from Portland to Seattle and Vancouver, a Seattle stop for a Vancouver exhibit wouldn&#8217;t make sense. Everyone inclined to see it would have. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_3\">Alas. Not the case. Determined not to wait for a bullet train, Scott Lawrimore is doing what he can to strengthen the links between cities that have everything in common except the reality of free exchange. Exhibits important in one city rarely register in another, which makes <i>phot(o)object<\/i> a welcome exception.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexanderandbonin.com\/exhibitions\/bolande\/2004\/Bolande3.html\">Jennifer Bolande<\/a> transformed the mass-produced visible with a curtain that bears a photographic image and impersonates carved wood.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"photoobjectwoodcurtain.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/photoobjectwoodcurtain.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"300\" width=\"385\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tillmans.co.uk\/\">Wolfgang Tillmans<\/a> inserts a false memory of a classic photography moment.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"photoobjectteardrop.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/photoobjectteardrop.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"309\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_3\">\n<div>Using nothing more threatening than his luggage, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artnet.com\/artist\/682443\/alan-belcher.html\">Alan Belcher<\/a> plans to torture airport security.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"photoobjectluggage.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/photoobjectluggage.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"303\" width=\"389\" \/><\/span><br \/>Twenty artists, not a dud in the group.
