Its current exhibit, <i>Underwater<\/i>, is a salon-style greatest hits. The new shares space with work in play from earlier efforts, such as <em>19 Rainstorms<\/em> and <i>River Styx<\/i>, both from 2005; <i>Insubstantial Pageant Faded <\/i>from 2007, and <i>You Complete Me<\/i> from 2008.<\/p>\n<p>It rains in Seattle. Why has no other exhibition space made note of the city&#8217;s interest in the subject?<\/p>\n<p>As part of <i>You Complete Me<\/i>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jeppehein.net\/\">Jeppe Hein<\/a>&#8216;s 20-inch square <i>Ice Cube<\/i><br \/>\nmelted around the clock a few feet north of the front door, watering the plants and<br \/>\nstaying out of everybody&#8217;s way. Taken inside, however, the cube takes<br \/>\nadvantage of being in the wrong. Ordinarily, art doesn&#8217;t leak on a<br \/>\ngallery floor. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/06\/westernbridgewish3-7738.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/06\/westernbridgewish3-7738.html','popup','width=500,height=702,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/06\/westernbridgewish3-thumb-400x561-7738.jpg\" alt=\"westernbridgewish3.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" width=\"400\" height=\"561\" \/><\/a><\/span><i>Ice Cube<\/i><br \/>\nis Minimalism in a confessional mode, spilling everything it knows.<br \/>\nEvery day it opts to change formal rigor into an inconsequential mess.<br \/>\nOutdoors, <i>Ice Cube<\/i> was an ice cube. Indoors, it&#8217;s a metaphor.<br \/>\nAs it disappears, even optimists find themselves thinking of what else<br \/>\nis melting and what else is rising in its wake.<\/p>\n<p><i>Underwater<\/i> not<br \/>\nonly confronts the real world, it offers a chance for change in both senses of the word. <a href=\"http:\/\/automat.com\/#\">Paul<br \/>\nRamirez Jonas<\/a>&#8216; <i>Well <\/i>is open and ready for business.
