When on a roll, he communicates in capital letters.<\/p>\n<p>THE STORY<\/p>\n<p>AS A NEWCOMER TO THE CITY, I WANTED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE NY ART GALLERIES, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gavinbrown.biz\/\">Gavin Brown Enterprises<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;I APPROPRIATED A DISCARDED DOMINO BOARD FROM THE SIDEWALK IN HARLEM. I TITLED THIS OBJECT, (the life and times of) HARLEM 1910 &#8211; 2010, AND SIGNED THE BACK WITH MY NAME. <\/p>\n<p>I HAD A PROFESSIONAL CRATE MADE FOR THE PIECE. I DESIGNED LABELS FOR A FAKE COURIER COMPANY AND DELIVERED THE PACKAGE TO GAVIN BROWN FROM ANOTHER MANHATTAN GALLERY OWNER NAMED <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulacoopergallery.com\/\">PAULA<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/05\/ScottWayneIndianaCrate3-6235.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/05\/ScottWayneIndianaCrate3-6235.html','popup','width=500,height=534,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/05\/ScottWayneIndianaCrate3-thumb-300x320-6235.jpg\" alt=\"ScottWayneIndianaCrate3.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" width=\"300\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/>INSIDE THE CRATE WAS A LETTER FROM PAULA&#8217;S EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>GAVIN,<br \/>\nPAULA WANTED TO SEND THIS OVER AS PER YOUR CONVERSATION AWHILE BACK. WE LIKE THIS PIECE AND PAULA THOUGHT IT WOULD FIT NEATLY WITH THE LINEUP FOR THE GROUP SHOW. IT MIGHT BE A BIT OUT OF LEFT FIELD, SO IF THIS WON&#8217;T WORK, JUST LET US KNOW.<br \/>\nREGARDS,<br \/>\nONA<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A GALLERY WORKER NAMED SCOTT SIGNED FOR THE PACKAGE AND ASKED IF I WANTED SOME WATER (AS I HAD JUST CARRIED THE CRATE ACROSS MANHATTAN SO) APPARENTLY I LOOKED THIRSTY. BUT I DECLINED AND LEFT.<\/p>\n<p>SINCE THE DELIVERY A FEW FRIENDS HAVE CONTACTED THE GALLERY INQUIRING ABOUT PURCHASING THE PIECE.<br \/>\nTHEIR CALLS HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED.<br \/>\nCURRENTLY, THE WHEREABOUTS OF THIS ART PIECE ARE UNKNOWN.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Portland&#8217;s Scott Wayne Indiana at 39 Forks.
