Boredom eats the soul. To combat this eating away, the artists on the Frye team organized a portrait challenge in 2004, open to all comers. In ever more ambitious forms, it continues. Writes Molenkamp:<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Subjects were taken from the various discarded magazines floating around the museum. The challenge amounted to a small photo being pasted in a standard sheet of paper,<br \/>\nand 6 empty boxes placed below it&#8230;The results ranged from realistic renderings to insightful caricatures,<br \/>\nsilly pictures to conceptual musings, and everything in between.<br \/>\n(Besides guards), participants over the years have ranged from artists <a href=\"http:\/\/www.markryden.com\/\">Mark<br \/>\nRyden<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/jenniferzwick.com\/\">Jennifer Zwick<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caitwillis.com\/\">Cait Willis<\/a> to folks<br \/>\nwith no artistic training what-so-ever&#8230;This year&#8217;s highlight will be highlight an interactive section of 100 new, blank portrait<br \/>\nchallenges which the public will be asked to fill up with the night of<br \/>\nthe show.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Baby Seal Club, 619 Western Ave., third floor.
