Before the wheel, the flute and tailored furs came the jar, the
\njug, the pot and bowl. They are the oldest forms and the most diverse.
\nContemporary vessels carry their utilitarian history. Even though many
\nhave moved out of the craft ghetto, that ghetto remains a kind of roots
\nmusic, allowing artists who hear it to dig down to waken.<\/p>\n
