They destroy books in order to honor them and make them their own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuearts.org\/exhibitions\/current\/book_borrowers.htm\"><i>The Book Borrowers: Contemporary Artists Transforming the Book<\/i><\/a>&nbsp; is at the Bellevue Arts Museum through June 14. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/04\/3301508666_a100054629-4534.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/04\/3301508666_a100054629-4534.html','popup','width=500,height=333,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/assets_c\/2009\/04\/3301508666_a100054629-thumb-150x99-4534.jpg\" alt=\"3301508666_a100054629.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"margin: 0pt 20px 20px 0pt; float: left;\" width=\"150\" height=\"99\" \/><\/a><\/span>Although major figures from the art of the book (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sinsign.com\/weblog\/archives\/images\/Anselm-Kiefer.jpg\">Anselm Kiefer<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gagosian.com\/news\/2009-03-17_ellen-gallagher\/\">Ellen Gallagher<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.annhamiltonstudio.com\/\">Ann Hamilton<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haberarts.com\/images\/ligon.jpg\">Glenn Ligon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moma.org\/collection\/browse_results.php?criteria=O%3AAD%3AE%3A5005&amp;page_number=5&amp;template_id=1&amp;sort_order=1\">Tim Rollins and the Kids of Survival<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawrimoreproject.com\/lp\/Media_Galleries\/Entries\/2008\/9\/30_I\">Ed Ruscha<\/a>), are not here, <i>Book Borrowers<\/i> is studded with gems. From the elaborate to the stark, the best fuse the container with the thing contained.
