Curated by artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.froelickgallery.com\/Artist-Detail.cfm?ArtistsID=257\">Robert Yoder<\/a>, <i>Dearly Madly<\/i> explores the spirit of doomed pursuit. The nature of the pursuit insures its failure and seals desire into an endless loop,having nowhere else to go.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.western-project.com\/Dee\/Dee.html\">Michael Dee<\/a>&#8216;s <i>Heartsmelt (The Panopticon)<\/i> is a Jeff Koons&#8217; on the skids. Trailing its own battered props, this party is dead and doesn&#8217;t know it.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"04340l.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/04340l.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"376\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.seattlepi.com\/art\/archives\/138512.asp\">Shaun Kardinal<\/a>&#8216;s <em>Repose<\/em> is in love with its own melancholy.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"04343l.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/04343l.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>In gorgeous video performances on tiny screens, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juliaoldham.com\/news.htm\">Julia Oldham<\/a> imitates the mating rituals of insects. She memorized their antics and can repeat them perfectly. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"04344l.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/04344l.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>If <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/400\">Elizabeth Peyton<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcachicago.org\/exhibitions\/exh_detail.php?id=66\">Karen Kilimnik<\/a> did not exist, I doubt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alikacooper.com\/\">Alika Cooper<\/a> would be able to invent them. She hitched her wagon to their stars, and yet hovering inside her paintings is a distinct form struggling to get out. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"04303l.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/04303l.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" style=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"351\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure what <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?q=haim+steinbach&amp;oe=utf-8&amp;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;um=1&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;ei=k5LKScmXDJGksQOB9sy5Bg&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=image_result_group&amp;resnum=1&amp;ct=title\">Haim Steinbach<\/a> is doing in this show. A self-possessed member of the Cool School, Steinbach has never demonstrated a flair for or interest in vulnerability.
