More on them later. Meanwhile, reliable venues are taking the month off, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.platformgallery.com\/\">Platform<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ambachandrice.com\/home2.html\">Ambach &amp; Rice<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Platform opened with four partners. Stephen Lyons is the only one left, and he runs it by himself. Even though he no doubt he needs a vacation, why pick August? Seattle collectors tend to stay in town, plus it&#8217;s high tourist season, attracting those who are sweltering where they live.<\/p>\n<p>Ambach &amp; Rice has been lights out since June 27. Its website reports it will reopen August 14, but with what? That space is a blank.&nbsp; No news is not necessarily good news. I&#8217;d hoped the gallery would use its time out to upgrade its website, adding, for instance, images to its list of artists represented. Alas, no. Under each artist&#8217;s name is the caption, &#8220;More information coming soon.&#8221; That&#8217;s soon in turtle time. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawrimoreproject.com\/lp\/Right_Now.html\">Lawrimore Project<\/a> has scheduled nothing past the close of its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/2010\/07\/issac-layman---a-shot-of-saint.html\">Isaac Layman<\/a> show, ending August 14. (Click the Layman link for more on LP&#8217;s still mysterious plans.)&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fetherstongallery.com\/\">Fetherston Gallery&#8217;<\/a>s last scheduled exhibit closed June 12th. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greygalleryandlounge.com\/\">Grey Gallery<\/a> closed its Capitol Hill space on June 19 and is still looking for a new one. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohgeltd.com\/Ohge_Ltd\/Exhibitions\/Entries\/2010\/5\/17.html\">Ohge<\/a> is out May 15-Sept 1. <\/p>\n<p>The open-with-bells-on crowd includes:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/soilart.org\/currentshow\/index.htm\">Soil<\/a>: <i>Xanadu: A Stately Pleasure Dome<\/i>. Group show including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amandamanitach.com\/index.php?piece=2\">Amanda Manitach<\/a>&#8216;s <i>Glory, Utopia (the head of Samuel Taylor Coleridge on the body of Terpischore)<\/i> Charcoal and pastel. Opens Thursday night, 6-8.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"samueltaylorcoleamanda.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/samueltaylorcoleamanda.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;\" height=\"426\" width=\"200\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ouchmyeye.com\/\">Ouch My Eye<\/a> is having a yard sale 5-11 p.m., also the opening for a group show. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.punchgallery.org\/exhibitions\/2010-08.html\">Punch Gallery<\/a>: <i>Orange Crush<\/i>. Yes, gallery artists explore orange. (Wasn&#8217;t Punch artist Ries Niemi <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/2010\/08\/club-nergo-golf-anyone.html\">recently deploring<\/a> the prevalence of cute curatorial ideas?)
