People who want to protect American lives by means of a war on terror aren’t usually the same people who want to protect Americans with health insurance, education, decent jobs, pollution controls, bank regulation, safety nets and social justice. <\/p>\n

Seattle painter Ken Kelly<\/a> needed emergency brain surgery, which he was lucky enough to obtain. Now he has the bill, which is large. He is uninsured. <\/p>\n

\"kenkellyblckwhite.jpg\"Were he a European, his friends could limit their involvement to a card, an email, a texted well-wish, a hug or a flower or two. Because he’s an American, they need to do more. In an event that is surely repeated for other artists many times around the country, Kelly’s friends are organizing a fund-raising art auction for him on Jan. 23, 7 p.m. at Lemon Lime Studio, 411 Yale Ave. N., two blocks north of REI.<\/p>\n

We
\nare seeking donations of artwork for the event. If you are interested
\nin participating you can choose from the following three opportunities:<\/font><\/div>\n

 <\/font><\/p>\n

1. 
\nWorks valued between $50.00 – $200.00 dollars which will be available
\nfor pre-event sale through the website. (Please note the website is
\ncurrently in progress and will be completed with the next few days).<\/font><\/div>\n

Works purchased through the website must be at the event for pick up by the lucky person who bought your fabulous work.<\/font><\/div>\n

Works
\nthat remain available as of the event will be included in the silent
\nauction at the benefit party. The minimum bid will be the same as the
\nsale price on the website.<\/font><\/div>\n

 <\/font><\/p>\n

2.  Donations of artwork available in the silent auction at the event only<\/i>. These pieces will all start at a minimum bid of $100.00. (This will encourage very lively bidding wars!)<\/font><\/div>\n

 <\/font><\/p>\n

3. 
\nIf you would like to donate more expensive artwork, you will determine
\nthe minimum bid. We also ask that you provide a full purchase price in
\nthe event a patron wants to forego the auction process choosing instead
\nto buy the work outright.<\/font><\/div>\n

\nprice depending on the above option(s) you select (if the work is other
