Meanwhile, my friend is typing on his cell phone. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What are you doing?&#8221; I asked. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m Twittering your comment about 20,000 new words.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;STOP,&#8221; I cried in alarm. &#8220;I was just talking.&#8221; (Turns out it was 2,000 words, give or take a word here or there.)<\/p>\n<p>The exchange reminds me of this poem by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poets.org\/poet.php\/prmPID\/184\">Robert Creeley<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><font><font><font size=\"4\"><font size=\"3\"><i>I Know a Man<\/i><br \/><br \/>As I sd to my<br \/>friend, because I am<br \/>always talking, -- John, I<br \/><br \/>sd, which was not his<br \/>name, the darkness sur-<br \/>rounds us, what<br \/><br \/>can we do against<br \/>it, or else, shall we &amp;<br \/>why not, buy a goddamn big car,<br \/><br \/>drive, he sd, for<br \/>christ's sake, look<br \/>out where yr going.<br \/><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m talking to a friend about why I don&#8217;t want to post a video questioning Shakespeare&#8217;s authorship of his plays on ArtsJournal&#8217;s main page ( I mean, how tiresome, give it up for the big guy), and I mention that Shakespeare invented 20,000 new words.
