His <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gregkucera.com\/daws.htm\">gallery<\/a> offered nine for sale for $1,000 each. The 10th Daws dropped into circulation at the Los Angeles International Airport. <\/p>\n<p>What are the chances he&#8217;d ever hear from that 10th penny again?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Daws&#8217; counterfeit, fresh from his gallery:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"jackdawspenny.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/anotherbb\/jackdawspenny.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"212\" width=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This week, a woman in NYC named Jessica Reed called him to say she&#8217;d found it, noticed its difference and tracked back to the original stories about the piece.
