A shadow is a fact when you cast it and otherwise a metaphor for experience, except in art, where its meanings are myriad.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artnet.com\/Galleries\/artwork_detail.asp?G=&amp;gid=173547&amp;which=&amp;ViewArtistBy=&amp;aid=424662598&amp;wid=425297909&amp;source=exhibitions&amp;print=1&amp;rta=http:\/\/www.artnet.com\">Cat Clifford<\/a>&#8216;s shadows do not depend on light. I think of the statue-like crystalline head as being symbolic of many different faces \/ heads, as well as being a kind of self-portrait of that time in my life.
