Artistic Director – Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré

Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré (LPT) invites applications from creative, curious, and collaborative theater professionals to serve as the next Artistic Director for New Orleans’ oldest small professional theater. The role will be a visible leadership position not only within the theater, but also with the broad and diverse New Orleans creative community; the right candidate will embrace the opportunity to build community connections, foster education opportunities, and engage new audiences while also considering a loyal subscriber base. The Artistic Director will serve as a key member of a small, but collaborative and supportive team. Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré has engaged Management Consultants for the Arts to lead the search for their Artistic Director, and interested candidates may apply for this position by visiting this link: https://mcaonline.com/searches/artistic-director-lepetit

Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Le Petit is one of the oldest theatres in the country; this year, it celebrates its 100th year in the same space at the corner of St. Peter and Chartres Streets, on Jackson Square. LPT was originally organized in 1916 as the New Orleans Chapter of the Drama League of America and one year later as the Drawing Room Players where it quickly became known as the place to see live theatre in the South. Continuously growing audiences soon made it clear that a larger space was needed, and in 1922, the theatre bought the property at its present location. The theater underwent a major renovation in 2011; the old building space now encompasses celebrated restaurant Tableau as well as LPT. Human beings may make choices that are not predictable or even completely determined. The hard question of free will is whether, at the time of making a choice, we could have done otherwise (leaving aside randomness or chance). - The Wall Street Journal
