Lumberyard, the performing arts center in Catskill, N.Y., will celebrate its grand opening in September with an event featuring the tap dance master Savion Glover, hosted by Alan Cumming.

The center, 5,500 square feet of performance spaces and buildings along the Hudson River in upstate New York, had a soft opening this summer but is to officially open on Sept. 1 with Mr. Cumming and Mr. Glover, who will be joined by the jazz drummer Marcus Gilmore.

The inaugural season will include “the day” (Dec. 8 and 9), a new dance by Lucinda Childs set to David Lang’s musical work of the same name. It will star Wendy Whelan, the New York City Ballet star turned contemporary dance champion, and feature the cellist Maya Beiser, for whom Mr. Lang wrote the piece.

“the day,” which Ms. Beiser performed in May at the annual Bang on a Can Marathon, includes a spoken-word libretto that Mr. Lang created from searching the phrase “I remember the day that I” on Google and recording what he found.

The season will also feature the fruits of Lumberyard’s residency program, created in partnership with the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The fellows — Kaneza Schaal, Kimberly Bartosik and Andrew Schneider — will have their works performed upstate from September through November, ahead of their New York premieres at the Brooklyn Academy’s Next Wave Festival.

“It is exhilarating to finally welcome the public into our artistic home,” Adrienne Willis, Lumberyard’s artistic and executive director, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to host and celebrate artists as diverse as dance icons Lucinda Childs and Wendy Whelan and theater makers Kaneza Schaal and Andrew Schneider here this fall, as well as to present live concerts and film screenings.”
