Norman Lebrecht on shifting sound worlds
Could she top the big top back on the opera stage?
Our opera ingenue Elizabeth Frayer went to see Renée Fleming moon-singing at the Met.
The HD performance was wonderful. There was a standing ovation, in the movie theater where no one performing could see or hear us. I wonder if this is an American tradition – clapping and responding to a movie screen.
She will always be magnificnt on the opera stage.
