Norman Lebrecht on shifting sound worlds
Just watch…. remember to breathe when it’s over.
Watch the complete concert here.
Fabio Machado is also amazing, has a very rich tremolo (here he performs Vitali’s Chaconne) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpZk5Edqdy0
AMAZING! Thank you for sharing it
What a stunning performance and video! I just so wish we could have been spared the sounder milliseconds after the final cadence.
Beautifully coordinated accompaniment — smooth, harmonious — wondrous blending… I posted Yuja Wang’s Bumble bee, fast work on her part!
I would love to see and hear Avi in concert in the UK! He is a marvellous musician and a lovely person!
I wish the balance had been a bit better. Often the chordal accompaniment on the piano outweighs the melodic line in the mandolin. I’m surprised that the pianist wasn’t more sensitive to the possibility of drowning out the mandolin, but perhaps she thought the recording engineer would compensate. Still, he gave a beautiful rendition.
