‘Rehearsals began, and suddenly I got a call from the personnel department and asked to immediately stop and sign an order of dismissal,’ says Alexander Titov, chief conductor of the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra and honored artist of Russia.
‘I have led the orchestra for six years. In all these years no claims against me were made, nothing, as they say, foretold such an outcome.’
Our informant in St P says that Titov says that he is to be replaced by a crony of one of Putin’s people. We have the name on file.
Titov added: ’I was fired once in Soviet times. ‘Now they do not even pick up the phone!’
