23 orchestras play out tonight against ticket tax rise

Most of Spain’s professional symphony orchestras – over 1000 musicians, in all – will play a simultaneous concert in 16 cities at 7 pm in protest at an increased 21% tax on concert tickets, as well as sweeping cuts.

The 23 orchs will play the same program, each in the Plaza Mayor of their own city. The event is organized by AMPOS (Association of Professional Orch. Musicians of Spain). Be there, if you can. (And send us video if you’re there.)
